Kickstart Kilifi in Detail

We are an innovative learning community-based organization founded to improve the quality of education in Kenya with the aim of reducing school dropout and maximizing students learning through experiential learning. We work with out-of-school teenagers and youths in Kilifi County/State, Kenya. Our aim is to deliver interventions that will address the learning gaps in schools and ensure that children not only attend but also thrive in school and in the process prevent students to drop out. Additionally, we want to reduce the educational and job skills mismatch which is the chief cause of unemployment in Kenya today.

Dreaming Big but Starting Small

Our aim is to improve the quality of education in schools and ensure that all children not only attend but also thrive in school. This is being accomplished by working in collaboration with the government, local communities, parents, teachers, volunteers, and civil society members. Our programs aim to supplement rather than replace government efforts.

Interventions

Our interventions are academic support (offering remedial classes, introduction of reading clubs in schools and mentor-ship) and skills training in entrepreneurship, digital skills, and life skills. All interventions are designed to ensure that learning levels in schools and communities increases, education reaches all children who are in school or unable to use school facilities, and out of school youth gets skills that will open doors for more opportunities.
